Prevent Vehicle Overheating

Michigan is in the midst of hot summer weather. Summer driving can be tough on your truck. Extremely hot temperatures put extra stress on your enginevital cooling system. A cooling system that is not working properly can cause overheating, resulting in additional wear to your engine and the possibility of total engine failure. Check out these simple tips to protect your Ram truck from overheating this summer:

Check your fluids. Make sure your coolant is filled per manufacturers recommendations.

Watch the temperature gauge on your instrument panel. If the temperature continues to rise, you may have an issue with your cooling system.

Keep an eye out for new lights that illuminate on your instrument panel. These lights are there to visually warn you that something might not be right with your vehicle.

If you see steam coming from under the hood of your truck, pull over immediately and shut off the vehicle. Do not remove the radiator cap immediately, as injury might occur. Wait approximately 30 minutes for your truck to cool down so you can safely open the radiator cap and check fluid levels.

If your coolant levels are low after inspection, you might have a leak in your cooling system. If your vehicle has overheated, it is best not to drive it until repairs are made. Call a towing company or roadside assistance for help.
