Thelen Auto Group’s involvement with the community

Thelen’s community involvement involves sponsoring good causes. At Thelen Auto, we’re grateful to the community for keeping us in business since 1977 and we want to give back to the community we serve.

That’s why Thelen is proud to support the following causes:

  1. Cool City Car Show (benefit for the American Cancer Society)
  2. John Glenn HS athletics
  3. Kawkawlin River Watershed Association Pirate Paddle & River Clean-Up
  4. Bay Area Chamber of Commerce

  1. Cool City Car Show (benefit for the American Cancer Society)

Thelen’s community involvement has not only done a lot of good, it’s been a lot of fun! Co-hosting the Cool City Car Show with the Cool City Car and Cruze is always a blast and 100% of the proceeds go to a good cause.

The annual Cool City Car Show & Cruze is a two-day car show and cruise in Bay City, Michigan. The event is a benefit for the American Cancer Society and has raised over $250,000 for this great organization.

The event starts with a car cruise through the streets of Bay City and culminates in a street party in the Midland Street Business District. Then it’s up bright and early the next day for the car show in Downtown Bay City starting at 9 a.m. Competitions take place throughout the day and comes to a close with an awards ceremony in the afternoon.

For a complete schedule of events, see the Car Show website.

Join us in July 2019!

American Cancer Society

With Global Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and regional and local offices throughout the country, “The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem.”

The American Cancer Society is on “a mission to free the world from cancer.” The organization funds and conducts research, supports patients, spreads the word about prevention, and disseminates general information to the public. The organization wants people to “live longer — and better.”

The goals of the American Cancer Society are to:

  • Save lives
  • Create a cancer-free world
  • Fund and conduct research to discover cancers’ causes and to find better treatments
  • Promote healthy lifestyles to prevent cancer or detect it early
  • Support multicultural communities to reduce cancer risk
  • Advocate for lifesaving governmental policy changes
  • Work with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer
  • Fight for the millions of underinsured and uninsured Americans who don’t have access to lifesaving cancer care

  1. Kawkawlin River Watershed Association Pirate Paddle & River Clean-Up

Thelen’s community involvement also entails supporting the environment in Bay City and beyond.

Founded in 1993, the Kawkawlin River Watershed Association (KRWA) promotes and advocates for watershed issues in the Kawkawlin River basin.

Its focus include recreation, safety, education, and the protection of water quality. The KRWA sponsors events and projects including water monitoring, installing channel marker buoys for recreational boaters, and an annual river cleanup. The KRWA also supports watershed residents and property owners with issues including dredging and marine and winter safety patrolling of navigable areas of the river.

The Kawkawlin River Watershed drains nearly 250 square miles in Bay, Midland, Gladwin, and Saginaw counties and contains land area in 14 townships.

  1. Involvement with Bay Area Chamber of Commerce

Thelen’s community involvement involves being a proud member of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.

In 1882 the Bay City Board of Trade was founded and changed its name to the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce in 1967. The Chamber brings businesses and community members together to support economic growth and a high quality of life in the Bay Area.

The goals of the Chamber are to:

  • Create a business-friendly economic and legislative environment
  • Help foster a climate for professionals and businesses to grow and thrive through diversity in leadership
  • Promote engagement with and participation in the business community
  • Collaborate with others to identify skills gaps, connect students with employers, and improve access to learning opportunities
  • Promote the affordability, resources, and activities available in the community

We’re sold on the community

Thelen’s community involvement goes well beyond selling cars. At Thelen Auto Group, we love serving the community through both service to our customers and our commitment to improving our community. We look forward to serving you soon!
