This powerful new diesel engine builds on the successes of the previous generation EcoDiesel V-6, which was named “Wards 10 Best Engines” for three consecutive years. The next-generation model is rated at 480 lb.-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm, a generous increase from the second-generation version. Horsepower also sees an increase of 8-percent, coming in at 260-horsepower. The engine block of the new 2020 EcoDiesel V-6 is cast from compacted graphite iron, which is lightweight but has the strength to dampen vibrations. Dual-overhead camshafts with four valves per cylinder are featured on this powerful engine, as well as a forged-steel crankshaft and rods for durability. Many other improvements have also been made to this next-generation powerhouse to increase efficiency and durability.
